Qualifications FAQs
I received an invitation in the mail. Am I automatically accepted?
No. An invitation to apply, is simply an invitation to apply. We do not issue pre-approvals for membership under any circumstance.
Why did I get an invitation in the mail?
We receive lists of potentially eligible students. If you have received an invitation, then your name appeared on this list.
I did not receive an invitation, may I apply anyway?
Yes. All applications from eligible students are reviewed.
If I am a member, does it mean I am graduating Magna Cum Laude?
No. Membership in The National Scholars Honor Society is awarded independently of a college or university's degree, and does not equate to any school's degree designations, and likewise, receiving Latin honors from your school does not guarantee membership in this honor society. The two are independent: neither mutually exclusive nor commensurate. More information on Latin Honors
I am a duel enrolled high school senior, am I eligible?
No. Only post-secondary students meet eligibility requirements.
I am already a member, but received another invitation in the mail. Why?
Please disregard any duplicate mailings that are received in error. The eligible students list that we receive occasionally contains redundant listings. We apologize for any inconvenience.
